Echinopsis ‘Lipstick’

ISI 2003-1. Echinopsis 'Lipstick'.

Flower to 4 ½ inches (11 ½ cm) across. Petals somewhat broad, recurving at relatively low temperatures, bicolored dark silky reddish-purple and dark red. Filaments of outer and inner stamens deep waxy red with orange tint. Bases of ring filaments forming waxy, reddish-pink ring, contrasting to color of petals. Stigma green. This is Bob Schick's favorite red-flowered hybrid when it opens at room temperature or somewhat warmer. He says it is the color of lipstick, "the red kind." Rooted cuts of HBG 89129, Schick 1645-27. $7.50.
