The aim of International Succulent Introductions is to
propagate and distribute new or rare succulents to collectors, nurseries and
institutions to further research and appreciation of these remarkable
plants. Field-collected plants,
cuttings or seeds are not sold, only seedlings, grafts and rooted cuttings
produced under nursery conditions without detriment to wild populations. Income
is used solely to support this program. An annual offering (mail-order only,
discontinued each year after September 1, August 1 for foreign orders) appears
in each March-April issue of this journal.
The
ISI is the plant introduction program of the Huntington, a non-profit,
501(c)(3) organization. The ISI subsidizes its annual listing in the Journal by
paying for all but four of the color photos as well as for advertising space
(reduced to half the per-page ad rate because of the educational, scientific
and conservation value of the list). Charitable contributions to the
Huntington's ISI program are welcome.
