ISI 2002-19. Dyckia marnier-lapostollei var. estevesii Rauh

Dyckia marnier-lapostollei is a choice and slow-growing Brazilian terrestrial bromeliad covered with silvery-white, scale-like trichomes. Its slender flower stalks bear bright orange flowers and extra-floral nectaries that produce droplets of sweet sticky nectar. Var. estevesii differs primarily in its larger marginal leaf spines that tend to cluster in twos or threes. From controlled pollination of HBG 76185, plants collected by W. Rauh (67371), at 1100 m. elev., State of Goias, Brazil. $15.
