ISI 2008-23. Oeceoclades petiolata (Schlecter) Garay & P. Taylor

This is another terrestrial orchid understory-denizen of the thorn-forests of Madagascar (see prior offerings of this genus in 2001-2005). Its succulent, cordate leaf-blade is reminiscent of that of the S. African terrestrial Holothrix orchids but is held aloft by a slender petiole over the glossy pseudobulbs that may be veiled in a lacey tunic. HBG 97472, plants from controlled pollination of Röösli & Hoffmann s.n., collected Dec., 1992, Mt. de Français, Diego Suarez, Madagascar. $24.
